STUDENT BIO

Justin Krishart is a 5th year student in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May of 2016, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineerg degree, focusing on the Structural Option. He is planning on taking the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) Exam during the 2015/2016 school year, in hopes of gaining EIT status upon graduation in May 2016.

 

For the first three summers of his college career he worked for his father who is a general contractor, primarily working in Residental Construction. He is involved with various aspects in building houses/garages from the footer to the roof. These aspects include concrete, block foundations, ICF foudations, framing, roofing, electrical, and mechanical. 

 

This past summer, he interned with Jacobs Engineering at the Arlington, VA office. Throughout the summer, Justin learned to use programs such as MicroStation, RAM, SAP 2000, ETABS, and STAAD. He worked on many different types of projects, which included both steel and concrete structures.

 

Other than his academics, Justin is involved in University activities. He has been a member of the Student Society of Architectural Engineers for fours, where he has been a mentor to underclassmen in the AE program. Justin is also a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Penn State for two years, where in Spring of 2015 he went on the club trip to Nashville, TN for the Steel Conference. Justin enjoys many hobbies in his free time such as hunting, trap & skeet shooting, baseball, building things, volunteering, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeler riding.

 

Justin successfully completed his Senior Thesis Project on Evandale Crossings on April 8th, 2016 and presented it to the faculty jury on April 11th, 2016. The project involved a structural redesign of the originally designed composite steel system and lateral braced frames to a two-way reinforced concrete slab system with reinforced concrete shear walls. Upon graduation in May of 2016, Justin will be moving to Centreville, VA where he will begin working for Alliance Structural Engineers in Reston, VA.

In May of 2016, Justin passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and is eligible to become an Engineer in Training (EIT).
